NC Licensing Requirements
North Carolina State Board of Opticians requires all dispensing opticians to hold an active license.
At least 18 years old with high school diploma or GED.
Complete one of:
- Associate Degree: 2-year AAS in Ophthalmic Dispensing
- Apprenticeship: 2 years (4,000 hours) supervised training
Pass both:
125 questions, 70% pass, $75
